It sounds kind of crazy, doesn't it? Spirituality and wealth together, in the same breath...
Now, when I speak of spirituality, I'm not speaking about being religious. That's a horse of a totally different color.
When most of us think of spirituality, we think of an isolated monk sitting on top of a mountain, forsaking all worldly possessions in pursuit of spirituality...Denying himself pleasure and comfortable surroundings...kneeling or sitting on a floor mat all day in silent meditation. Basically poor.
Equally, when most of us think of wealth, we feel it's unattainable..that it's a sin to want to be wealthy. Some associate wealth with greed and cheating and being rotten, like old Mr. Potter in the movie classic, "It's A Wonderful Life." I can see him now, talking out of the side of his mouth in his wheelchair, plotting how he was going to undermine the Savings and Loan,...how he was going to fill his pockets with the blood and sweat of others.
Neither one of those scenarios is particularly pleasing, though, I think Dear Abby said it best; "I've been rich and I've been poor...and Rich is better."
The reality of it is that you can be spiritual and wealthy at the same time. Being spiritual doesn't mean being poor and being wealthy doesn't mean being greedy. I've been pondering and soul-searching these seemingly opposite States of Being for a long time and this is my journey. These are my experiences and certainly my own thoughts, based on daily reflection.
I am not hear to teach religion, however for those of you who are interested, there are several Biblical verses you can look up at your own leisure. These few I share with you now...
Deuteronomy 8: 18
But thou shalt remember the Lord, thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.
Ecclesiastes 5: 19
Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.
Psalm 112: 3
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever.
Proverbs 3: 10
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and the presses shall burst out with new wine.
Notice that the Psalmist names Wealth and Riches separately...
Now religion aside, like many of you, I have read The Secret and learned of The Law of Attraction, which is very nice. But why isn't it working for everyone? How come I'm not rich yet? What is it that's blocking the wealth and abundance from coming to me? Wallace D. Wattles, in "The Science of Getting Rich," states that we have the right to be rich. We can't rise to our fullest potential without being rich.
If it's my right, then I need to learn how to claim it.
You can download a free, legitimate copy of "The Science of Getting Rich" right now and begin reading it in a few minutes (after you finish my blog, ofcourse!) by going to this link: thesecret.tv
That was quite an introduction to the idea that anyone can be wealthy..you don't have to be born into it or inherit it. I hope this opens up your mind to new ways of thinking and tomorrow I'll be back with more...
